Moving forward: Season 2023

season 2023 v2

One thing about me is that I love making lists, especially at the beginning of every year, as a personal guide whenever I feel lost or overwhelmed with life. Kind of like a tweakable list of new year's resolutions, I guess, since I don't like setting anything in stone and leaving nothing to chance or circumstance (because I'd rather do things at my own pace and in my own style) but it helps a lot to have something to refer to once in a while.

So imagine my surprise when I couldn't find one for 2022. I mean... ðŸ¤¡

Did I forget or did I misplace it or was it intentionalI really can't remember. But I found accomplished to-do lists I made around July on a separate journal. Apparently, I couldn't survive going through a year without making one hence we are starting a little early for 2023.

I'm sharing with you my template that I've been using for the last 3 years. I usually just write it down my journal but I figured you may want to copy it so ta-da! I classify each item/goal according to their category (ex. personal, career, health, financial, etc.) and simply put them in the quadrant they belong to. Basic. However, this forced me to come up with goals that are specific per category just for the sake of filling them in (my OC brain required to have at least 3 per category) which I just realized doesn't exactly align with how I wanted to live my life anymoreI didn't want to feel obligated by themplus I don't seem to be ticking off more than 30% on my list every year and so I end up including them on the succeeding year (it's exhausting and discouraging seeing the same goals over and over.)

Basically it's not working anymore that's why we're changing it up a bit.

I literally just created this days ago and I'm just feeling inspired, heh.

First, identify the most important aspect/s of your life that you want to add value on. Personally, I highly value anything that feeds my soul and intellect so it will always be a top priority, then I branch out from there. It could be anything you want to focus on (there are no rules!) and in my case I wanted to focus on going on more adventures, adding investments, and staying healthy.

These categories are from my 2023 list so feel free to customize. Name them however you want and put as many as you want so long as you can commit to it. No need to plan it down to the very last detail (I personally wouldn't) because where's the fun in that? But you could if you want to. I just like to let life happen and work my way around it. Besides, the objective is to have an overview of where you'll allocate your time, energy, and resources in the coming months. We're all already busy living each day as it is. Depending on you, this should help put some structure in your weekly/monthly/quarterly habits and activities.

Another beauty of this is you can start it whenever you want to and tweak it accordingly. One reason why I lost fascination with dated planners is I found it limiting therefore wasteful when not fully utilized. See, the illusion of welcoming a new year with a fresh start just makes us feel like it's the best time to do it and it definitely helps in pushing us to reflect but, like I said, there are no rules and life's not a race. Feel free to restart your life whenever you want to. ðŸ˜‰

Having said this, do you have any new year's resolution for 2023 or are you just gonna wing it? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Have a blessed and fruitful new year, dear reader. I sincerely hope you make the most out of it. x
