Many say new year's resolutions are nothing but a cliché -- a routine, a habit most won't even see through for the rest of the year. Some claim it to be merely an illusion people turn to to make themselves believe that they're capable of change. There's probably some truth to that. Yet I say, so what? At least they tried to do something about their current situation, right? Isn't it more unforgivable to just stand by and watch as your life unfolds in front of you, accepting things as they are? But of course it shouldn't stop with just the desire to change and improve because you still haven't done and proven anything yet.
No, this isn't one of those predictable new year-themed articles filled with empty promises and far-fetched goals. This is a mark of starting over with a new perspective. This is Step One on the process of being better and aiming higher. This is where I stop myself from looking back and begin focusing on all the positive possibilities ahead. This is not a review of the past year but a breakthrough of who I used to be.
As awful as 2016 was, we knew we needed that year. So here's what has kept me busy as I ran away from it like a mad man (lol):
- Work + city life - exploring what BGC has to offer in terms of food (Moonleaf, Ooma and Sunnies Café are my faves so far) and night life
- Building new and worthy relationships. Hah.
- Spending time with the fam, lil sissy just got back home!
- Taking online courses
- PS4!!!
- Recording covers and videos
- Plotting and planning and creating and setting more deadlines for myself than I ever did before. I'm not sure if it's just me getting older but I feel like the clock is ticking much faster this time around. There's so much left to do and I'm cramming it all on late nights and weekends. But no complaints. <3
I don't know, these are basically current life events and I'm not sure anymore what I wanted to say here... So I guess just focus on the now as you plan for the future. Think of it like having a clean slate and just become what you've always wanted to be. And the next time you hear someone making fun of your resolutions, smile. Smile at them and hold on to your list tighter than ever. Because this is where you prove everyone (and yourself) wrong. This is where you prove what you deserve.
Here's to a cheerful and prosperous 2017! :)
